Birth & Death Records

We have birth and death records dating back to 1885.
It became a law to file these records with us July 1, 1907.

Birth Certificates- Dawson County is online with the office of vital statistics in Helena and can access the "Virtual Pavilion!"  Therefore, this office can access birth certificates for all Montana counties, currently on record.

Who Can Get a Birth Certificate?
According to Montana Code Annotated, vital records may be issued to the registrant, the registrant's spouse, children, parents or guardian, or an authorized representative.

Please fill out the this application for birth certificate, which has to be signed in the presence of a Notary Public or you may include a copy of a photo identification with your name clearly displayed.
